(Staircase Colony): in my dream, I was at the train station everything was underground the walls and tunnels were made out of brick they shook and crumbled holes started to appear I was with good friends, but I can't remember their faces now once, when I was young, I went shopping with my parents I remember a green tunnel, but I don't think it exists anymore or maybe it never did (Couldn't be Georgia): seasons change, slow release strange attack, awful heat couldn't be, georgia sun came too late, recreate the sound

people come and people go to sleep the subway station couldn't hold us all if you're being careful you can see the melodies arriving in their heads I can't write lyrics it destroys my plans cause my songs are too weird and my songs are too bland if I could just do it like Lucas said, well that'd be alright but I can't get past my head nervous peoples' nervousness don't pass it on to me cause I've already got enough yeah I've already got enough yeah I've already had enough of melodies that can't be mine a ball too tangled to untie I can't write lyrics it destroys my plans cause my songs are too weird and my songs are too bland if I could just do it like Lucas said, well that'd be alright but I can't get past my head

There is no place it does not know round the pom and into dreams it navigates the ebb and flow like a stream painted figures on the moon are spatially deprived they're smashing on pianos everytime you close your eyes and climbing silver spires that are made of flying sails whooshing through the air and leaving silver dotted trails the Oliphant does not care it is not neither here nor there or anywhere open up and let them out tigers, fish and guns from the cliff a shot rings out the legs are stretched and spun a pomegranate spilling seeds floating over endless seas filling in uncertainties new surreal entities painted figures on the moon are spatially deprived they're smashing on pianos everytime you close your eyes and climbing silver spires that are made of flying sails the Oliphant is blind

Apple Trees 01:30
all the distant planets they are watching us following the voices making all our choices all the things you do for me when I lose reality forgot about reality that keeps me chained down somewhere in the apples trees tucked between the boughs secret places that have been hidden in the snow icicles will melt the fresh water must flow all the things you do for me when I lose reality forgot about reality that keeps me chained down

about

This EP has been in the works for a few months, and changed a lot while I was working on it. Initially it was going to be a full album, "Reichl 1", and I made about 14 instrumental tracks for that idea. However, none of them had vocals, and by the time I was in a good position to record vocals I had bought a better mic and didn't want to mix new and old songs (I wanted it to be tonally consistent). The songs that actually ended up on the EP were mainly recorded in May and June of 2021 - Staircase Colony / Couldn't be Georgia, Human Manifold Condition, Hotfinger, and Apple Trees were recorded in May and vocals were finished recently. The instrumental for Apple Trees was recorded on a Tascam 244. The Oliphant Part 2 was mostly recorded in my dorm room around March or April, then finished in May. (That's why the drums sound so weird - I used cans and boxes to keep noise down). The name "Heat Wave 3" came about because there's already a great song and an EP with the same idea.
